DAZ Studio 4.0 Pose Bug Workaround by Tako-Yakida DAZ Studio 4.0 Pose Bug Workaround by Tako-Yakida
Sept 24 2012 Update: With DAZ Studio 4.5 and the new DUF file format, the issues in this tutorial appear to be resolved. So note that this tut only applies to .DSA/.DSF formats. Hurray for DUFs! :squee:

*******************************************

Updated 3/21/2012 to include all figures as applicable for this tutorial.

Well folks, I've had one interesting time making pose sets for DAZ 3D's Genesis figures this year! I was even recently looking at the prospect of redoing several sets because I kept running into the problem of poses not behaving properly.

Specifically: If you use a PZ2 (Poser format) file on Genesis (or any figure) that breaks the limits, DAZ Studio will ask you if you want to do so (unless you changed this feature in your preferences). BUT, if you use a DAZ Studio format such as .DSA or .DSF, it WILL NOT ASK, and then you might think the pose is broken because you have an arm sticking out of a head or something.

I didn't catch this right away because I was using Genesis figures that already had their limits broken by the PZ2's!

This tutorial provides a simple solution until this bug gets fixed. I submitted the bug to DAZ and it has been verified.

I hope this tutorial is helpful for you.

Happy posing!

-Tako

Have you tried that on V4 by chance? I am always having to adjust the hands on my poses.. Doing a long render now so I can't check for myself.. If you haven't, I will do when this render has finished. :)

Thanks for the this I know I will be using it in the future!!

I don't recall every being in that situation since most poses I have for V4 are only PZ2, but I can check it next time I am available.

Ok, it looks like V4 has the exact same thing. So my tut will fix that as well. :)
